What is Amaranth?
Amaranthis a series of about 60 species of herbs. Several species of Amaranth are raised for grains. [1]
Formerly in 1955, Sauer classified the Amaranthus genus into 2 sub-genera. A modified infrageneric classification of Amaranthus was published by Mosyakin & Robertson in 1996 and includes 3 subgenera: Acnida, Amaranthus, and Albersia. [1]
