What is Flour?
Flour is considered the key ingredient for breads and many other baked goods. There are several types of flour some of which are; wheat flour, white flour, rye flour, corn flour, tapioca flour, rice flour, amaranth flour and potato flour.
In approximately 9000 BC it was discovered that wheat seeds could be crushed between simple grindstones to make flour. [1]
Enriched flours began in the 1930s with Iron, Niacin, Thiamine and Riboflavin. [1]
In the 1940s, mills started to enrich flour. [1]
In the 1990s, Folic Acid began to be added to enriched flours. [1]
