What is Soybean Meal?
Soybean meal is obtained by grinding the remaining flakes after the removal of oil from soy beans. This process is done by a solvent or mechanical extraction procedure. [1]
Soybean meal is a poor quality protein filler with almost 50% of the protein extracted. It boosts the protein content of low quality pet food and has a biologic value of less than 50% of chicken meal. It's more suited for feed in aquaculture, beef, dairy cattle, horses, poultry, sheep, and swine. [1]
